Handel’s Messiah Returns to Trinity

The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus and guest soloists will return to Trinity this year to perform a candlelight performance of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah”. The concert will take place Saturday, December 21st at 7:00 p.m.

Trinity’s sanctuary is one of Maestro Alfred Savia’s favorite venues. “I keep telling people it’s one of the best places anywhere to present ‘The Messiah,'” Savia said. “It’s my very favorite place.”

It’s not as old, but the church’s sanctuary is just about the same size as the Dublin hall where “Messiah” premiered in 1742. According to Savia, the acoustics are great and the open-trussed architecture is beautiful, especially with the ribbons, garlands and lighted candles that decorate the hall each Christmas season.
