United Methodist Women

Purpose

The United Methodist Women (UMW) is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in global ministries.

Goals

  • Enable broad participation of women of varying interests, ages, ethnic groups, and lifestyles.

  • Study and interpret, in words and action, the message of the Gospels.

  • Discover, confront, and respond to the issues of the day.

  • Work actively and openly for the elimination of injustice and the liberation of oppressed peoples.

  • Prepare ourselves for full participation in the total life of the church and community.

  • Assume responsibility for stewardship of time, personnel, and funds.
